About Campaign

The act of fasting calls for Muslims to practice self-discipline and sacrifice and reflect upon and show compassion for the poor and less fortunate. This Ramadan, let's not forget millions of Afghans struggling to make ends meet. The humanitarian situation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate. The country is on the verge of universal poverty. The UNDP estimates 97 percent of the population is at risk of sinking below the poverty line. A recent WFP survey found that 9 in 10 families are experiencing insufficient food consumption, 7 in 10 have been forced to limit portions, resort to cheaper food, and borrow food, and 5 in 10 have run out of food at least once prior two weeks. We raise money to help impoverished families in Kabul, Afghanistan, by buying essential food items like rice, flour, oil, pulses, and sugar. This work is volunteer-based, and 100% of your contribution will be distributed to the poor. How are the needy families identified and selected? The volunteers have surveyed over 3000 families and have identified the most impoverished among these families (primarily widows). The team is experienced in identifying and helping those in need. To the best of the team's knowledge, all these families are Zakat eligible. The team's search for identifying ultra-poor families in Kabul continues. Photo: Aman Sedaqat

We are not a formal entity, yet we have collectively raised hundreds of thousands of US dollars over the past seven years and have accounted for every penny. Our way of work is unconventional. We do not have a hierarchy; we do not have a team lead. We are a strong team that utilizes the capabilities of each volunteer. Our work is motivated by the ideology of: ره نیک مردان آزاده گیر / چو استاده ای دست افتاده گیر Mohammad Sulaiman Akbari usually represents the team.
