Ambitious Founder, Waheed Niawash, started Dursa with an impressive nine years of experience in tow. He spent close to a decade teaching and managing multiple educational institutions, advising on marketing strategy for Moore Afghanistan, and developing an e-payment application. Before that, Niawash graduated from Kabul University's Faculty of Economics and the Institute of Management and Accounting. Next, he earned certifications in Electronic Money Institution (EMI) and Institution Payment (PI), and now he combines business expertise with artistry.
Niawash was a handicraft hobbyist producing pieces sporadically for years. In early 2021, he took his creative passion further by starting Dursa. He hired a team of ten to establish consistent production with creativity and durability as equal priorities. Dursa handcrafted items are not like those typically found in Afghanistan markets because the team is obsessed with craftsmanship. Products are categorized into three types: decorative tableware including plates, bowls, and napkins; home decor such as pillows, curtains, and artwork; fashion accessories counting bracelets, handbags, and headpieces.
Of course, operations run smoothly thanks to Niawash’s top-notch business management experience. His entrepreneurial appetite has proven successful, especially now with expansion on the horizon since partnering with Aseel. Initially fascinated by Aseel’s transparent payment process and end-to-end supply chain, the e-payment app developer quickly integrated the Dursa brand online. Through this partnership, Niawash hopes to first expand sales throughout all provinces of Afghanistan, followed by the world.
