Aseel was invited to participate in the International Conference on Diaspora Humanitarianism as organized by Diaspora Emergency Action and Cooperation (DEMAC). Aseel was represented by Public Relations Lead, Omar Haidari, as a panelist in an important conversation on Funding + Fundraising for Diaspora Organizations in Humanitarian Aid. Alongside Haidari, there were representatives from influential organizations such as Civil Society in Development (CISU), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), and Foundation for Women’s Health. Aseel discussed creative ways of delivering humanitarian aid in a quick and cost-effective manner during crises. Examples included Aseel's Emergency Response initiative, which uses their in-house OMID ID cards, a customized technology suite, and local staff.

The following solution-orientated and creative methods specific to Aseel were highlighted:

1: Transparency is at the heart of Aseel’s Emergency Response as it boosts and encourages people in collaborating and taking action. Aseel’s Transparency is possible by OMID ID cards and real-time updates regarding donations and beneficiaries.

2: Aseel’s Emergency Response is donor-led and organized creating a bridge between people across the world. Aseel provides a variety of options such as allowing anyone to start their own campaign, choose beneficiaries, and target funds and packages of their choice.

3: Aseel’s work with the Afghan artisan community connects rural craftsmen and women in Afghanistan with the global market.
Through these efforts Aseel provides job security for hundreds of artists in Afghanistan and ensures the business is run during a crisis maintaining a connection between the diaspora and their homeland.

The panel included a diverse group of audiences that came together from different backgrounds to learn about the effective ways to help people in times of crisis. Aseel’s solution-orientated and technology-driven initiatives were very welcomed by the representatives of the organizations.

Once again, Aseel called upon humanitarian institutions to collaborate. Aseel has proven the fastest, most effective, and most transparent way to respond to the current crisis in Afghanistan, making Aseel capable of taking on greater responsibility. Aseel emphasized the need for diaspora organizations to collaborate, partner, and mobilize efforts in achieving greater humanitarian outcomes for the people of Afghanistan.
