Wakhjir Handicrafts ShopWakhjir Handicrafts
Selling from AfghanishtanKhairullah Hamdard, the owner of the Wakhjir brand, recently began his entrepreneurial journey after observing that many Afghan consumers buy cheap, knock-off, and imported goods. After receiving his bachelor's degree in business administration from Karwan University, he introduced original Afghan handmade products to the consumer market. He initiated his handmade business without hesitation, leveraging his entrepreneurial drive to improve lives in Afghanistan, which is impressive given how he boldly launched the brand in 2020. During the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, Afghanistan, like most countries, was placed under lockdown. However, Hamdard was optimistic that he could start and sustain Wakhjir by borrowing money from relatives and friends for the shop and staff salaries. Hamdard started his business with high standards. Excellence and an opportunity to help others remain empathetic in the business. She hired professionals from Turkey to train staff in Kabul to produce the best handbags and shoes. Initially, he wanted to procure materials from Takhar province because this province is known for producing cloth items. Hamdard continued despite many products in the lower quality area than what was acceptable for his brand. Even though Takhar artisans do not produce Wakhjir products, Hamdard has become a mentor who gives them notes to improve and support their handicraft endeavors. He pays homage to them through his signature Wakhjir. Each product contains a vein of Gand fabric that puts Afghan culture at the forefront of the brand. Wakhjir's products stand out from mass-produced imports because each item is meticulously handcrafted. The brand also focuses on environmental sustainability by sourcing materials responsibly and producing minimum waste throughout the manufacturing process. Additionally, each product is made with durability and longevity in mind so that customers can enjoy their Wakhjir products for a long time. Hamdard hopes to start men's clothing, bags, and shoes in the future, thus expanding his product line. He hopes to continue showcasing Afghan culture and tradition through his products to new customers by partnering with Aseel. He plans on expanding the brand to become globally well-known for high-quality handmade products.
