Kathleen Mohn
Kathleen Mohn is the former president of Speak and Write, her international training firm, which delivered workshops in India, China, Taiwan, the U.S., and several European countries. Kathleen developed an interest in the country of Afghanistan in the late nineties when she became friends with her next-door Afghan neighbour in Northern California. Later, through discussions with leaders in non-profits and a new Afghan friend, whom she recently helped with job-hunting, Kathleen has become aware of asylum and sponsorship challenges following the August 2021 evacuation. Her first contact with evacuated refugees was in 1975 when she helped to settle a Cambodian family in Washington State. In Southern California, she later tutored Spanish-speaking immigrants in English as a Second Language. Kathleen became involved with the Court Appointed Special Advocate program (CASA) in Northern California in 1995 and became a mentor and legal advocate for an eleven-year-old foster child. He is now thirty-nine and is still a friend of her family. She is eager to secure donations for emergency food and heating packages for Afghan families trying to survive the brutal wintertime in the Maidan Wardak Province.
