About Campaign
This winter, 19.9 million people across Afghanistan are expected to experience severe food insecurity, according to the most recent WFP report. Human Rights Watch predicts that if the weather is as poor as predicted, millions of people, including children, will face acute hunger and widespread famine. Already, 1 in 3 people are hungry, and 2 million children are malnourished.
This week, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported a staggering 90% increase in the cases of child malnutrition seen at its hospitals in Afghanistan compared to 2021. Furthermore, a children's hospital in Kabul supported by the ICRC has seen a 55% surge in the number of children under five being treated for pneumonia due to the harsh winter weather and inadequate measures to keep their homes warm.
To further shed light on the dire circumstances: some Afghans find themselves in, with reports of starving children being given drugs to sedate them, families selling their organs to survive, and children being forced into labour due to the absence of a breadwinner in the household.
This campaign will provide 500 families with the necessary heathers and wood to keep them warm for the entire winter. Additionally, we are working with Aseel to provide warm clothes, such as scarves, gloves, and jackets, to 500 children from families who cannot afford them.
We need your help to ensure these families and children are not left to suffer this winter. Join us in our mission to make a difference in Afghanistan and help us provide food and warmth to those most in need.
There will be a real-time update about where and how your donations will be distributed.
Please donate to this campaign or share it with your families, friends, and colleagues.
