Afghan Jawaher
Sadaf Shafa, the president of Afghan Jawaher, is a student at the American University of Afghanistan. She started the jewelry-making company three years ago with a group of female artists who were studying in the jewelry department with the hope of giving them career opportunities. Sadaf works in jewelry making and design while the team prepares materials such as stones, gems, and silver. About three girls work, but they also have employees from various provinces of Afghanistan. The jewelry is created using either modern or traditional Afghan jewelry designs. All raw materials are obtained from Afghanistan. The production process begins with creating the jewelry designs, sourcing and assembling raw materials, examining each gemstone for quality, and cutting the gems into specific shapes and designs. Sadaf hopes to expand her business to international markets by partnering with Aseel, where she and her team can showcase the beauty and elegance of Afghan jewelry and artisans. This not only increases revenue for the brand, but it may also help Afghanistan's economy.
