Our team of dedicated volunteers has identified over 500 vulnerable families in Kabul who are in urgent need of support. We have personally visited each family on our list to ensure their situation is accurately assessed. Based on our findings, we can confirm that these families are eligible for Zakat and Sadaqat al-Fitr.

This Ramadan, we are raising funds to provide these families with essential food items such as rice, flour, oil, pulses, and sugar. Every donation—no matter how small—makes a meaningful difference. If you wish, we can provide detailed information about the families we are helping.

Zarak (not his real name) gave US Armed Forces years of faithful service as an interpreter.When the US withdrew from Afghanistan, He and his family were among the thousands of Afghan allies who were left behind. Now Zarak, his wife, and their two little daughters live in hiding as they wait for US government action on his application for a Special Immigrant Visa (SIV). Help me in helping to keep this family fed until they have a visa in hand. Zarak helped Americans; now it's time for Americans to help him.

Widow families in Afghanistan are those led by women who have lost their husbands, often due to conflict, violence, or health issues. These families typically face significant challenges, including economic hardship, social stigma, and limited access to education and healthcare. Cultural norms often place additional burdens on widows, leading to marginalization and isolation. As a result, many widow families struggle to provide for their basic needs and seek support, highlighting the urgent need for targeted interventions and assistance to improve their living conditions and empower these women 

This Ramadan, Be Their Light – Support Widows & Orphans

Fatima, a 12-year-old girl, lost her mother at age three and now cares for her injured father and three siblings while living in poverty. Her father, unable to work due to war injuries, depends on her to provide for the family. With winter approaching, Fatima struggles to get essentials like firewood, food, and medical care. She works from early morning until late at night to make sure her family has enough to eat. This campaign seeks donations to help her family survive the winter by providing warmth, food, and support.

Fatima, with the innocence of childhood lost too soon, shared her story with tears in her eyes. Her words echoed the depth of her struggles:

"I used to dream of going to school, playing with other children, and having a normal life with my parents. But fate had other plans for me. My mother passed away when I was three, and my father, due to war injuries, couldn’t care for us. My older sister, who was like a mother to us, sacrificed her own life and married a much older man just to bring some money home so we could survive. She gave up her youth to ensure we could have food and a place to sleep. After her, I had to take on her responsibilities. Now, I work from dawn until dusk to keep my family alive.

"As I grew older, I realized life wasn’t going to be easy. Survival became my only goal. I’ve forgotten that I’m a child. I’ve forgotten what it feels like to be happy, to play, to dream. I’m no longer seen as a child, or even as a human being. On the streets, I’m harassed just because I’m a girl."

Her voice trembled as she continued to recount her daily struggles:

"Every morning, I wake up at 4 a.m. I leave our house and walk to the city. It’s still dark when I start, and I’m always scared of the dogs. Sometimes, I find someone to walk with, but often, even those who offer help have bad intentions. For nearly a year now, I’ve been painting shoes. I earn 5 Afghani for each pair I paint, and if I’m lucky, someone might give me 10 Afghani. But many days, people refuse to pay me and instead shout at me or even hit me, saying I should leave. I keep walking until 6 p.m., searching for work. At night, when I return home, it’s already dark. My little brothers, sister, and father wait for me to bring home dry bread, which is all we have to eat.

"When we have bread with tea and sugar, it feels like a celebration. Most nights, we eat bread with water, and I cry myself to sleep, praying that tomorrow will be better."

I asked Fatima about her dreams, and through her tears, she responded with words that broke my heart:

"Dreams? How can I dream when my family doesn’t even have food? I have never gone to bed with a full stomach. My wish is simple: to live like others, to eat food, and to sleep without hunger gnawing at me."

When I asked what she hoped for in the future, Fatima paused before answering:

"If God cared for me, He would have answered my prayer years ago."

I gently asked what prayer she had made that went unanswered, and her reply brought tears to my eyes:

"I prayed that my father wouldn’t cry anymore because he felt helpless. But instead, my father went blind."

Fatima’s story is a powerful reminder of the many children who are forced to grow up too soon, sacrificing their childhood to keep their families alive. Her courage and resilience in the face of such immense hardship inspire us all to take action.

Gulajan is a disabled man who is the sole breadwinner for his family of eight. His children are young, and he has no one else to support him. Due to diabetes, Gulajan lost his leg and is now further burdened by ongoing health complications. In addition to struggling to afford basic necessities, he also faces significant medical expenses. His current job as a shoe shiner barely covers their daily needs.

After speaking with him and learning about his situation, we launched this campaign to gather support for Gulajan. In an interview with him, the hardships and struggles of his daily life were painfully clear. His situation is worsening day by day, and he is battling immense challenges. These difficulties not only weigh heavily on his physical health but also on his spirit. Yet, he remains hopeful, believing that with the help of kind-hearted people, he can offer a better life for his children.

In the heart of Ghor province, where the cold of winter blends with poverty, a family lives in silence and darkness. Mir Ahmad, Rahmatullah, and Halima—three blind children—have never seen the world others take for granted. But what pains them more than their blindness is the hunger and lack of medicine they endure every day.

Their father, Noor, leaves home each day with hope in his heart, only to return empty-handed. Their mother, with tearful eyes, holds her children close, unable to provide them with the medicine they need. The neighbors, though struggling themselves, sometimes bring a piece of bread and a heart full of sympathy.
Despite their hardships, this family has not lost hope. Perhaps one day, a helping hand from near or far will light a candle in their darkness. Perhaps human kindness will change the fate of these three little angels. Will anyone hear their silent cries for help?

Hamid has faced some of the hardest challenges life can present. He has lost several of his closest family members and is now the sole provider for a family of six, his children and wife. In addition, he cares for five orphaned children who lost their father in the war in Afghanistan and supports his elderly, ailing mother. To add to these burdens, Hamid lost his job in Afghanistan, leaving him in a difficult financial situation.

Losing loved ones, especially in such circumstances, can leave families feeling heartbroken, confused, and unsure of how to cope with their grief. This is why our campaign is dedicated to supporting families like Hamid’s after such profound losses. We provide them with resources, guidance, and compassion to help them navigate these difficult times.

Through our campaign, we offer educational, financial, and food assistance to Hamid and his family. Our goal is to help his children and his family rebuild their lives after their tragic losses. We believe that no family should face grief alone, and we are committed to being a source of comfort and strength for those struggling.

Our mission is to create a supportive community where families can come together to share their stories, lean on one another for support, and find healing amid their sorrow. By offering the tools and resources needed to overcome loss, we aim to help families like Hamid's find hope and healing in the midst of their pain.

Hope and Survival for Afghan Families in Crisis

This family has faced unimaginable hardship after losing everything to devastating floods. Their home and means of livelihood were completely destroyed, leaving them in dire conditions with an uncertain future. With the threat of further flooding this winter, their fears and challenges are mounting daily.

Among the family members are several young children who are not only physically impacted but also deeply affected by the trauma of their circumstances. The mother is consumed with worry about their health and well-being, knowing the cold winter months will only increase the risks they face.

The father, the family’s sole provider, is doing his best to support them through temporary labor jobs. Unfortunately, his work is irregular, leaving some days without any income and others with barely enough to cover their basic needs. This daily struggle weighs heavily on him as he fights to protect his family from hunger, cold, and despair.
