I am Ahmed Ziya, an Afghan migrant. I came to Turkey 5 years ago without documents. It was winter. There was no work in Afghanistan, we couldn't pay rent. I was the only hope for my 12-member family. I sacrificed my youth for my family. I didn't know the language here, I didn't know anyone. I slept in parks at night, looking for work in the cold. It was hard, but I never gave up. For 5 years, I worked 12 hours every day. Almost all the money I earned, I sent to my family. I haven't seen my mother, my father, or my fiancée in 5 years. I miss them so much. I am so tired. Ahmed Ziya is an Afghan migrant who left his homeland five years ago in search of work to support his family. With no employment opportunities in Afghanistan and unable to afford rent, he became the only hope for his 12-member family.
He arrived in Turkey during the harsh winter without documents, without knowing the language, and without knowing anyone. In the beginning, he had nowhere to stay and often spent nights sleeping in parks while searching for work in the cold.
Despite the hardship, Ahmed never gave up.
For the past five years, he has worked long 12-hour days, sending almost every penny he earns back home to support his family. During this time, he has not been able to see his mother, father, or his fiancée, and the pain of separation has been extremely heavy for him.
