About Campaign

The continued instability and economic crisis in Afghanistan has led to a humanitarian crisis all over the country. LEARN in collaboration with ASEEL are raising donations for the ongoing Humanitarian Crisis in Kandahar, Afghanistan. The recent confrontations and the pace at which the conflict is running has jeopardized the lives of millions of innocent people. More than half a million Afghans have been displaced this year due to rising conflict and instability. Despite the fact that the situation is always changing, it is evident that we are seeing large-scale displacement in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. The disruption has not only led to the displacement of thousands of people, it has also accelerated the loss of people's sources of income. And as a result they are facing difficulty providing food, drinking water, and other basic necessities for themselves and their families. We are confident that with your aid, we will be able to assist people who are in urgent and desperate need. Our teams are on the ground delivering life-saving necessities such as food parcels, hygiene products, and other crucial items to mothers, children and men who are in dire need. We are committed to use every resource at our disposal to fulfill the demands of the humanitarian crisis that is presently consuming Afghanistan and its people. Therefore we call upon all and encourage all those who stand in solidarity with Afghanistan to contribute to this cause.

Pashtana Durani

Pashtana Durrani is a social and political rights activist and the founder of LEARN Afghanistan. In the 1990s, Pashtana Durrani’s family fled Afghanistan to escape the civil war and the Taliban control happening at the time. Pashtana was born as a refugee in Pakistan and grew up in a refugee camp. As a child, she attended school in the camp and in 2001, a school specifically for girls opened in her community. When Pashtana was a little older, she traveled to Kandahar, Afghanistan to meet her relatives. These relatives could not afford for the boys to go to school and it was not safe for the girls to travel to school. However, Pashtana noticed that her cousins were learning things, such as how to speak Hindi, from television. This sparked her interest in using technology to provide education for those who don't have access. This revelation and new-found passion led Pashtana to found LEARN Afghanistan, an organization dedicated to innovation in education with a focus on women's rights. She has enrolled more than 500 girls and is committed to doubling the number and building community centers in rural areas and urban slums where children can learn. For now, her focus is to provide support to war-affected families in Kandahar. Thus, she partnered up with Aseel, to raise funds and help those people.
