A Tale of Resilience from the Ashes: A Student's Journey from Nyala in Search of Knowledge "When war breaks out, it's not just houses that burn... dreams melt away, and years of life scatter to the winds. But hope, however faint, refuses to die." Beginning in the Heart of the Storm: Nyala I am a young man from Nyala, the city that once embraced our simple dreams and the warmth of our days, before the sudden war in Sudan uprooted us. Life was turned upside down, and all that remained of my childhood and youth were echoes of beautiful days. Amidst the rubble of destruction, I wasn't just searching for survival; I was also asking myself with anguish: What would become of our academic future? Would it all end here? The Great Illusion in South Sudan (7 Months of Loss) I heard about organizations in South Sudan offering assistance to affected youth to continue their education. Without hesitation, I gathered what little hope I had left and traveled there, enduring the harshness of the road and the hardship of the journey. But the shock was devastating; I discovered that those reports were nothing but false hopes. I sat with myself for a long time, facing a harsh crossroads: Should I accept reality, settle for the menial job here, and bury my academic dream forever? Or should I rise again and search for another glimmer of hope? I chose not to give up. After much searching and hardship, I found it: travel to Egypt, where job opportunities abound, and Egyptian universities offer facilities and reduced fees for Sudanese students, allowing me the chance to work and study simultaneously. The Wall of Reality in Egypt (A Year and a Half of Bitter Struggle) I arrived in Egypt full of determination, but the reality of life there was harsher than I had imagined. To secure a livelihood and the most basic necessities, I had to work tirelessly, 8 to 12 hours a day. And the painful surprise? My income didn't exceed $100 a month; an amount that vanished completely between the rent for a simple place to sleep and the daily cost of food and drink. A whole year and a half passed, and I was running around in a treadmill of exhaustion and fatigue, unable to even save up for the university application fees! My dreams faded for the second time, and time and life slipped away, but my spirit remained unbroken. A glimmer of new hope from Turkey (and a sudden downpour of rain) In those dark moments, I contacted an old friend studying in Turkey. When he heard my story and my suffering, he generously offered to help me; he was ready to cover the application and admission costs and assured me that working alongside my studies in Turkey was perfectly possible, just as he had done himself. He advised me to return to Sudan and apply through the Turkish embassy there, as the procedures were easier and less complicated compared to Egypt. I did just that; I returned to Sudan, submitted my documents, and spent three whole months in a state of anxious anticipation, praying, and waiting for the moment of relief. On the day of reckoning, I went to the embassy, ​​my heart brimming with hope... but the shock was devastating: they refused my visa application, without even explaining why! Current Reality: No Work, No Education Here I am today, back at square one, or even worse. Sitting in Sudan, unemployed, without education, I can't even afford a ticket back to Egypt to work and support my family, who are going through incredibly difficult times. I lost seven months in South Sudan, a year and a half in Egypt, and now my dream of going to Turkey is slipping away before my eyes. A Heartfelt Appeal to Your Compassionate Hearts I seek nothing more than my basic right: to learn, to stand on my own two feet, and to contribute to my family and my war-torn community. When I found this platform, I felt as though a door to heaven had opened for me once again through your kind hearts. Every contribution, no matter how small, every sincere prayer offered in my absence, every sharing of this story could be the spark that revives the dream of this young Sudanese man who refused to be broken by the winds of war.
