This story is about a 57-year-old mother who, after losing her husband, has carried the responsibility of supporting and caring for her seven children on her own. In 2023, her husband was traveling in a vehicle belonging to his workplace while carrying out his duties when the vehicle was hit by an explosion. He lost his life along with several other employees. From that day onward, the life of this family changed completely. With no formal education and very limited resources, this mother has had to work hard to provide for her seven children. The family has five daughters and two sons. Three of the children—a 27-year-old son and two daughters aged 20 and 18—have lived with serious developmental and intellectual challenges and physical differences since birth. They require ongoing care, support, and assistance with their daily lives. Another son, aged 20, is a university student. However, he currently has no income and struggles to afford transportation, books and school supplies, food, clothing, and other basic educational needs. The mother earns an income only through sewing. Her income is not stable. In months when she receives enough sewing work, she earns around 4,000 Afghanis, and sometimes even less. Although the family owns their home, the mother’s limited income is not enough to cover the basic needs of eight family members. Food, clothing, electricity, education, and other daily necessities have become a heavy burden for her. Our Goal We aim to raise $1,000 to support this family in several stages and help reduce the financial pressure they are facing. The funds will be used for:• Food and other essential household needs;• Clothing and basic necessities;• Educational and transportation expenses for the university student;• Essential needs related to the three children with congenital conditions;• Sewing materials and equipment for the mother, if needed by the family. Our goal is not only to provide temporary relief. We also want to help this mother continue and, if possible, strengthen her sewing work so that she can maintain a source of income for her family.
