Building the First Standard Roller Skating Arena and Training Center in Afghanistan

My name is Farhan Amirzada, an Afghan athlete and well-known roller skating coach. At the age of sixteen, after migrating to Iran, I was introduced to the world of roller skating. With years of dedication and training, I reached high levels of success. In Tehran, I became a recognized skating coach and trained hundreds of Afghan and non-Afghan students. Yet, despite our achievements, as refugees we were never given the recognition or opportunities we deserved.

That is why I decided to return to my homeland, Afghanistan—with the dream of developing roller skating into a self-sufficient sport that can one day bring pride and international medals to our country.

The reality, however, is heartbreaking: Afghanistan does not have a single standard roller skating arena. Thousands of Afghan youth inside and outside the country are passionate about this sport, but without facilities, their future remains uncertain. Tragically, several young skaters lost their lives last year while practicing on unsafe streets. For this reason, I have refused to hold official training sessions until a safe, standard skating ground is built.

Over the past two months, with the help of friends and fellow skaters, we have formed a large roller skating team in Kabul and other provinces. We even managed to bring several standard equipment pieces from Iran to Afghanistan. Still, our greatest obstacle remains the lack of funding for building a standard arena and providing proper safety gear.

This is why I am launching this campaign: to build the very first standard roller skating arena in Afghanistan. This initiative will not only provide safety for our athletes but also mark the beginning of a brighter future for roller skating in the country.
