My name is Helen Yousufy. I am a 19-year-old self-taught student from Afghanistan with a strong passion for Business and Technology and Interactive Media. Despite the restrictions on women’s education in my country, I have refused to give up on my education. I continue to study independently every day and work hard to prepare myself for future academic opportunities. Currently, I am preparing for the Duolingo English Test and GED coursework, and I have been invited to an official admission interview with Classrooms Without Walls (CWW) on August 29. At the moment, I study entirely using a smartphone. While it has helped me continue learning, it is not enough for the next steps of my education. I need a laptop to take GED practice tests, participate effectively in interactive online classes, complete applications, and access important educational resources. My goal is to raise $300 to purchase a reliable refurbished laptop to access basic study needs. This laptop would not simply be a piece of technology for me, it would be a tool that allows me to continue learning and move closer to my dream of higher education. I believe education can change the direction of a person’s life. I am determined to keep learning, growing, and building a better future for myself.
