My name is Marwa, a young Afghan writer, researcher, and aspiring documentary filmmaker. Like millions of Afghan girls, my education was interrupted after girls were banned from secondary schools. Despite these barriers, I have continued learning independently, studying English, participating in international educational programs, and writing about the experiences of Afghan women and girls. Today, I am working toward two connected goals. First, I want to continue my education by preparing for the IELTS exam, purchasing educational resources, maintaining reliable internet access, and obtaining the equipment I need for online learning. Second, I am developing the first phase of a documentary project, "Beyond August 15: Voices That Must Not Be Forgotten." The documentary aims to preserve the stories of Afghan women and girls whose lives changed after August 15, 2021. Through interviews and ethical storytelling, this project seeks to document voices that are too often unheard and share them with international audiences. The funds raised will support: Phase 1 documentary research, production, interviews, and initial editing. IELTS examination and English language preparation. Educational books and learning materials. Internet access for study and project coordination. A laptop for education, research, writing, editing, and documentary production. A smartphone for communication and project coordination. Basic camera equipment and accessories to support documentary filming.
