My name is Setayesh Jahani, a young Afghan woman from Parwan Province. I am starting this campaign because I have a dream that I have carried in my heart for many years: to become a doctor and dedicate my life to helping people. My journey has not been easy. I grew up with dreams for my future, but I also experienced loss that changed my life forever. My father was martyred, and losing him left a pain and emptiness that I still carry with me. I cannot bring him back, but I can carry his memory, his hopes, and the things he wished for me. My father dreamed of becoming a doctor. That dream stayed with me. Today, becoming a doctor is not only about having a profession for me. It has become something deeply personal. I want to achieve the dream that my father could not complete and turn his unfinished dream into something meaningful through my own life. As an Afghan girl, continuing my education has also been a difficult journey. When opportunities for girls became limited, I was afraid that the future I had worked so hard for might disappear. There were moments when I did not know what would happen next, but I tried to keep learning and looking for ways forward instead of giving up. Along the way, I gained experience working in health and education. I have worked as a Nutrition Counsellor, supporting people with nutrition education and health needs. I have also worked as a teacher, helping children learn and encouraging them to believe that they can build a better future. These experiences made my desire to work in medicine even stronger. After years of studying, working, and searching for opportunities, I finally received conditional admission to study Medical Doctor Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) in Indonesia for the 2026–2027 academic year. Receiving that admission letter was one of the happiest moments of my life. For a moment, I felt that the years of effort had finally brought me somewhere. But that happiness also came with a difficult reality: my admission is self-funded, and I cannot afford the full cost of tuition, visa, travel, accommodation, and living expenses by myself. This is the hardest part of my story. I have finally reached an opportunity that I worked so hard for, but I may lose it simply because I do not have enough financial support to take that next step. I do not want my circumstances to decide the end of my education. I am asking for your help not because I want people to feel sorry for me, but because I am asking for a chance. A chance to continue studying. A chance to become a doctor. A chance to use my education to serve people who need care and compassion. Every contribution, no matter how small, can bring me closer to this goal. For someone else, a small donation may seem like a simple act. For me, it could mean tuition, a visa, a ticket, educational materials, or simply the ability to take the next step toward my future. And behind all of this, there is my father. I often think about what it would mean to one day wear a white coat and know that I did not give up on the dream that connected us. I wish he could see that moment. I wish I could tell him that his dream did not disappear with him. I cannot change what happened to my family. I cannot bring my father back. But I can keep moving forward and try to make something meaningful from the dreams he left behind. My dream is to become a doctor, serve people, and make my education a reason for hope—not only for myself, but for the people I will be able to help in the future.
