Sibgol’s Story

Sibgol is a 34-year-old mother of seven young children living in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. About a year ago, she lost her husband to kidney disease. Since then, she has been solely responsible for caring for and supporting her family.

Sibgol works in people’s homes, but her income is not enough to provide food and other basic necessities for her children. She and her seven children currently live in a single room in her brother’s compound, where they are also exposed to violence and beatings.
