Since 2024, Nurbaan has been a home-based educational center in Afghanistan, providing English-as-a-second-language classes to over 50 resilient young girls across four learning levels, who show up every single day determined to learn and build a brighter future. To this day, we have been operating with minimal equipment, but we want to change that. Right now, Nurbaan does not have a single classroom chair, so the students have to sit on the floor. While they stay extremely determined, sitting on the floor can make writing and focusing physically exhausting. During the peak summer months, the students have to sit close together on the floor in a single room, and it can easily be suffocating. It doesn't get better in other seasons, as in cold winters of Bamyan, the bare ground turns ice-cold, making it impossible for the girls to stay warm or comfortable and focus on learning. Our largest class has 30 students. By purchasing 30 tablet-arm study chairs, every student will have a comfortable place to sit and write. The chairs have a built-in writing surface that eliminates the need for big, expensive tables that cannot fit in our classroom.&nbsp; At Nurbaan, we believe that a student's physical environment directly shapes their ability to learn. Since 2024, Nurbaan has been a home-based educational center in Bamyan, Afghanistan, providing free English language classes to more than 50 dedicated young girls across four learning levels. Despite the many challenges they face, these students continue to attend classes every day with determination, hope, and a commitment to building a brighter future through education.
Although our students are passionate about learning, our classroom lacks even the most basic furniture. We do not have classroom chairs, forcing students to sit on the floor during every lesson.
This creates significant challenges throughout the year. During the summer, students sit closely together in a single room, making the learning environment hot and uncomfortable. In the harsh winters of Bamyan, the cold ground makes it difficult for students to stay warm, concentrate, and participate fully in class. Sitting on the floor for extended periods also makes writing and studying physically uncomfortable, affecting both learning and confidence.
Through this campaign, we aim to purchase 30 tablet-arm study chairs for our largest classroom. These chairs include built-in writing surfaces, providing each student with a comfortable place to sit, write, and learn without requiring large classroom tables that cannot fit in our limited space.
