Hi, I’m Jun Tan  a volunteer teacher in a small village primary school in Bijie, Guizhou Province, China.
Most families here live on less than $300 a year. Many parents left to work in cities, so grandparents or older siblings take care of the kids. Every September we lose a few students because their families can’t afford the basic school fees (about 150–200 RMB per child per semester for books, supplies, and miscellaneous costs). Some kids also come to school in sandals even when it snows.
This year we have 38 children who still haven’t paid the fees. The school gave us until the end of this month before they have to drop out.
I’m trying to cover the gap so every child can finish the semester. The total we need is only $5,300 USD (≈38,000 RMB), which breaks down to:

$20–25 USD = one child’s full semester fees and basic supplies
$40 USD = fees + a new schoolbag + stationery + a pair of winter shoes
$80 USD = all of the above + a warm jacket

100% of the money will go straight to the school and the village shop for supplies. I’ll post receipts, photos of the kids receiving their things, and short updates every week. I’ve been teaching here for three years and have done this small fundraiser twice before — everything is transparent.
