Hudia Hashemeyan
My name is Hudia Hashemeyan, and I’m proud to be the first in my family born in the United States. My roots trace back to Afghanistan, but my family's journey began when they fled the country in the early 1980s due to political turmoil. After spending five years in India, they were finally approved for U.S. visas, and I was born here, in a place far from the homeland they left behind. Although I have never had the chance to visit Afghanistan, the deep bond I feel with my Afghan heritage remains a central part of my identity. As I’ve become more involved with the Afghan community here in the States, my heart has increasingly longed to support those who continue to face unimaginable hardship back home. The recent devastation caused by the earthquakes in Kunar, Afghanistan, has only deepened my sense of urgency. These earthquakes have torn apart families, destroyed entire villages, and left countless lives in ruin. I feel a personal responsibility to be a voice for those who are suffering, and that is why I’ve created this campaign—to provide relief and support to those currently facing the destruction of their homes and communities in Kunar. While I may be far from Afghanistan, I know that the love for our people and the desire to help transcend borders. This campaign is not just about providing immediate aid, but about showing the resilience, strength, and solidarity of our Afghan community, no matter where we are in the world. I invite you to join me in this effort to offer hope, healing, and support to the people of Afghanistan in their time of need. Together, we can make a difference.
