About Campaign

On the night of Sunday, August 31, 2025, a powerful 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan, leaving thousands of families without homes, food, or warmth. Before many could even pull their loved ones from the rubble, a series of aftershocks ranging from 4.0 to 5.2 magnitude struck the following days, devastating already fragile homes and crushing neighborhoods again and again. This story hits close to home. My uncle, Mama Mafooz, survived not one, but three devastating earthquakes in Kabul, each time rebuilding his home with his bare hands. As a young girl visiting him, I marveled at how the house had changed yet again, and he would share the heart-wrenching struggles of reconstructing it through harsh winters, brick by brick, with unwavering determination. He was one of the gentlest and most hardworking men in our family, a true symbol of resilience and strength in the face of relentless hardship. With winter fast approaching, children are forced to sleep in the cold, mothers struggle to protect their families, and countless lives hang in the balance. Every moment counts, they need our help right now! Please give what you can and share this campaign. Together, we can keep families safe, warm, and hopeful in their darkest hour. Thank you for standing with Afghanistan and for honoring the resilience of people like my uncle, Mama Mafooz.

As an Afghan-American, I am deeply committed to humanitarian support, education, women's rights, and helping rebuild a harmonious Afghanistan. In August 2021, during Operation Allies Refuge, I had the privilege of supporting Afghan evacuees in Germany firsthand as a linguist and cultural expert. That experience gave me a profound understanding of the urgent needs faced by families uprooted by conflict; the trauma, uncertainty, and struggle to survive. Today, the crisis continues for those left behind, many of whom are forced to choose between survival and despair in the wake of natural disasters and ongoing instability. Project Mehfooz honors the resilience and courage of every Afghan man, woman, and child in need. It aims to provide immediate relief, long-term support, and sustainable opportunities for families striving to rebuild their lives. Through this effort, I, alongside other members of the Afghan diaspora, aim to give back to our homeland, fostering harmony, hope, and a future where communities can thrive once again.
