Executive Summary The Women’s Socio-Economic Production Center was established with the aim of promoting the economic empowerment of returnee women and girls in Bamyan Province. In addition to its production activities, the center has an educational component that provides training in standardized tailoring skills. However, limited financial resources, inadequate equipment and raw materials, and insufficient operational capacity have restricted the center’s ability to expand its activities and respond to the needs of women in the community. This project is designed to strengthen the center’s production and training capacity. Through financial and technical support, the project will create opportunities for sustainable employment, increase household income, improve livelihoods, and contribute to poverty reduction among vulnerable women and girls. --- 2. Project Background and Rationale In Bamyan Province, many women and girls—particularly those returning from migration—face significant challenges, including unemployment, poverty, limited access to vocational training, and a lack of suitable employment opportunities. These challenges can increase economic dependency and social vulnerability. Providing women with practical vocational skills and opportunities to earn an income can help strengthen their economic independence and improve the well-being of their families. Although the Women’s Socio-Economic Production Center has made initial efforts to address these challenges, its capacity remains limited due to a shortage of sewing machines, raw materials, training equipment, and skilled instructors. Without additional support, this important initiative may struggle to continue and expand its activities. --- 3. Overall Objective To promote the economic empowerment of returnee women and girls by strengthening production capacity and providing practical vocational training in Bamyan Province. --- 4. Specific Objectives The project aims to: - Promote economic self-reliance among women and girls.- Reduce vulnerability to poverty, economic dependency, and social challenges.- Provide standardized tailoring training to 25 women and girls.- Create sustainable employment opportunities.- Increase participants’ income and improve the livelihoods of their families.- Strengthen the economic and social role of women within their families and communities. --- 5. Main Activities The project will include the following activities: - Purchase electric and manual sewing machines.- Provide raw materials, including fabrics, thread, and sewing accessories.- Equip the training classroom with tables, chairs, and a whiteboard.- Recruit a qualified professional tailoring instructor.- Conduct theoretical and practical tailoring training sessions.- Train participants in the production of traditional clothing, modern fashion garments, bags, and special-occasion clothing.- Develop market linkages and connect women’s products with local markets and potential customers.- Conduct regular monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of project activities. --- 6. Expected Results By the end of the project, the following results are expected: - 25 women and girls trained in tailoring, embroidery, bag making, and other relevant skills.- At least 6 direct employment opportunities created.- Increased production of traditional and modern clothing.- Improved tailoring and handicraft skills among participating women.- Increased income among participating women.- Improved household livelihoods.- Strengthened economic participation and social position of women within their families and communities.- Improved access to local markets for women’s handmade and locally produced products. --- 7. Project Budget – Summary The project budget will cover the costs of sewing machines and equipment, raw materials, training equipment, professional instructor fees, facility rent, electricity, water, monitoring and evaluation, and other operational expenses. The estimated total budget for the project is approximately USD 5,000 (Five Thousand United States Dollars). A detailed budget can be prepared based on the specific requirements, quantities, and current market prices of the equipment and materials. --- 8. Sustainability After the completion of the project, the Women’s Socio-Economic Production Center will continue its activities through the sale of products, local orders, and the enrollment and training of new students. Income generated from the sale of products will be used to cover operational costs, purchase additional materials, maintain equipment, and gradually expand production and training activities. This approach will help the center move toward greater financial sustainability while continuing to provide women and girls with vocational training and income-generating opportunities. --- 9. Conclusion The project to strengthen the Women’s Socio-Economic Production Center is a practical initiative aimed at empowering returnee women and girls and other economically vulnerable women in Bamyan Province. By providing vocational training, production equipment, raw materials, and access to markets, the project can help women develop valuable skills, create sustainable employment opportunities, increase household income, and improve their economic and social well-being. Financial and technical support from national and international organizations can play an important role in reducing poverty, strengthening women’s economic participation, creating sustainable employment, and contributing to local economic development in Bamyan.
