🌍 Support For Earthquake Victims in Kunar
On the night of August 31, 2025, a powerful 6.0 earthquake struck Kunar Province in eastern Afghanistan, causing catastrophic destruction. Districts such as Nur Gal, Sokai, Watapur, Manongi, and Chapa-dara have been devastated. Entire villages have collapsed, homes lie in ruins, and countless families have lost everything overnight.
While the tremors were also felt in Jalalabad and other parts of Nangarhar, the people of Kunar are bearing the heaviest burden of this tragedy.
đź’” The human toll is heartbreaking:
•   More than 600 people have tragically lost their lives
•   Over 1,300 have been injured
•   Thousands of homes have been destroyed, displacing entire communities
How Your Support Will Help
Funds raised here will go directly toward:
•   Emergency relief: food, clean water, blankets, and temporary shelter for displaced families
•   Rebuilding efforts: supporting families who lost everything to begin their recovery
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help save lives and restore hope.
Together, We Can Make a Difference

Why I Am Launching This Campaign? I am from Kunar Province, and my family lives in Jalalabad. By God’s grace, they are safe, but they told me they endured nine terrifying aftershocks. My mother said she has never felt such a strong earthquake in her lifetime. While my family is unharmed, many other families were not as fortunate. Entire neighborhoods and villages have been reduced to rubble. Parents are searching for children, and survivors are without basic necessities. My father is a doctor at the Kunar Provincial Hospital, where he has been caring for many of the injured. He describes the situation as extremely critical — with more patients arriving every hour and hospitals stretched beyond their limits. I am not in Kunar physically, but my heart is there. Since the earthquake struck, I have been following the news and speaking with friends and relatives on the ground. I cannot dig survivors out of the rubble with my own hands — but I can do something. That is why I am launching this campaign through Aseel, a trusted platform that has been connecting the Afghan diaspora and global supporters with people in need inside Afghanistan. This ensures that help reaches the victims of Kunar quickly and securely. I am also grateful to have the support of my colleagues and friends: Ihsan Hasaand, who is assisting the Aseel Team on the ground, helping ensure that aid from this campaign is distributed directly to the earthquake victims. Mina Sharif, an Afghan-Canadian humanitarian and advocate for Afghanistan, who is collaborating with me to amplify this campaign globally and extend its reach. Mina and I have successfully led fundraising campaigns together in the past, and we are once again joining efforts to support our people in this time of urgent need. Both Ihsan and I have previously worked with Aseel for three years, and now — with Mina’s partnership — we are stepping in once again to help the victims of this devastating earthquake in our homeland.
