My friend Fawze Alnajjar is a devoted father doing everything within his power to keep his three children fed, hydrated, sheltered, and safe in Gaza. He and his children are living through circumstances no person should ever be forced to endure.&nbsp; Their days are shaped by displacement, extreme heat, hunger, thirst, fear, and the constant uncertainty of whether their most basic needs will be met. Fawze has told me that his family is living in a tent where the heat becomes so intense during the day that they cannot remain inside.&nbsp; At the same time, securing enough food and clean drinking water for three growing children is an urgent need. When Fawze first reached out to me, he told me that it was his son’s birthday. In the midst of everything his family was enduring, he was still thinking about his child’s birthday and wanting him to experience happiness. That has remained with me. His children are not numbers or distant images from the news.&nbsp;They are children and they deserve birthdays, full stomachs, clean water, safe places to sleep and moments of laughter. Fawze speaks about his children with tenderness, pride, and deep concern. He is doing everything within his power to care for them, but no parent should be left alone with the impossible responsibility of meeting a child’s needs amid displacement, scarcity, and continuing danger. Love can comfort a frightened child, but love alone cannot purchase food, water, medicine, clothing, or shelter. I am creating this campaign because Fawze does not have a large organization or fundraising team supporting him.&nbsp;He is a father asking people to see his children, recognize their humanity, and help him continue protecting and caring for them. I have set the fundraising goal at $75,000 because this family’s need is not limited to one meal, one delivery of water, or one brief emergency. Fawze is caring for three children whose need for nourishment, shelter, hygiene, medical care, clothing, and protection continues every day. The purpose of this campaign is to provide meaningful and sustained support for his family for as long as the funds are available.
