About the Campaign
As you may be aware, Ramadan is drawing to a close, and this marks the beginning of Eid Ul-Fitr celebrations. Eid Ul-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide. The celebrations commence with a communal prayer, followed by a brief sermon at dawn. After the prayer, families and friends congregate to share celebratory meals and exchange gifts, particularly with children. Eid al-Fitr, also known as 'Sweet Eid,' is celebrated with traditional sweet treats that vary from country to country. These sweets are specially prepared for the occasion.
In Afghanistan, there are different local customs and traditions for the Eid ul-Fitr. People visit each other, play games, and children sing songs. Each family prepares a table and gathers all kinds of dry fruits and fresh fruits. After tea is served, they go to another house and this continues for the whole day. Second and third days are spent outside picnicking and sightseeing.
In Afghanistan, it is said that “Eid belongs to the children” who are extremely happy as the Eid approaches. Families provide new clothes and outfits to their children, give them gifts and Eidana. This year we wanted the Eid to be different for children and families who are unable to prepare something for Eid. .
At Aseel, we decided to provide a small Eid package to families who cannot afford to get Eid treats. The package will include the following items and costs $22 USD:
• Almond: 1 Kg
• Channa (Nakhod): 1 Kg
• Chocolates: 1 Kg
• Cookies: 3 Kg
• Mumbai Mix (Semian): 1 Kg
• Raisins: 1 Kg
• Nuql: 1 Kg
Thank you for contributing to this campaign and brining smiles on so many faces at Eid.
