My name is Hamida Sediqi, and I am from Central Baghlan District in Baghlan Province. I have over fourteen years of experience in tailoring and traditional handicrafts. I officially began my business in the year 2019, starting from a very small amount of capital. Despite limited resources, I worked with dedication and commitment to establish what is now known as the Baghlan Women Tailoring Center. Our shop is located in Pashtunistan Square, beside Nauman Bin Thabit School. Today, I am proud to say that we have eight staff members, including two men who assist with marketing. The remaining team consists of women, many of whom are widows or come from financially challenged backgrounds. In addition to our core team, we are currently training a total of eighty-seven students — thirty in one center and fifty-seven in another. These women are learning tailoring and handicraft skills to prepare for future employment or entrepreneurship. I come from a family with a strong appreciation for the arts. My mother and aunt both practiced traditional handicrafts, and their influence inspired me deeply. I discovered my interest in tailoring and handicrafts while I was in seventh grade, and it quickly became my passion. The purpose behind founding this business was not only to support myself, but also to provide sustainable income opportunities for other women, promote local skills, and preserve our rich cultural heritage. Our long-term vision is to improve the economic condition of families and communities through skill-building, employment, and empowerment. Becoming part of the Aseel platform has opened new doors for us, allowing us to connect with a global audience who values authentic, handmade products and supports Afghan artisans. Thank you for supporting Baghlan Women Tailoring Center — where every product represents resilience, heritage, and hope.
