Afghanistan
My name is Nargis Majidi, daughter of Bazaarbay, from the central district of Kunduz Province, Afghanistan. I hold a 14th-grade certificate in Economics and Business (Accounting and Management), and I have over fifteen years of experience in the field of tailoring and Afghan handicrafts. In 1390 (2011), I officially launched my tailoring workshop with a personal investment of 10,000 Afghanis, starting with just one manual sewing machine. From that small beginning, I built Bahar Tailoring Workshop, a business that now employs 10 staff members and operates from Bandar Imam Sahib, Sar Hawz Street, Kunduz City. My passion for Afghan culture and tradition inspired me to start this business. My goal has always been to preserve and promote traditional Afghani clothing, such as Afghani scarves (Gand), local dresses, bead embroidery, leatherwork, bag stitching, and Chapan (traditional coat). I want the world to know and appreciate the richness of our culture and the artistry behind our handmade products. I learned my skills through hands-on experience, self-practice, encouragement from my family, and participation in workshops and training seminars organized by various institutions. Over the years, my work has reached local city markets, nearby districts, and rural villages. The mission of Bahar Tailoring Workshop is to introduce Afghan products to the global market, support economic growth, and improve the financial well-being of families, especially women-led households. By joining Aseel, I now have the opportunity to connect with a global audience that values handcrafted cultural products and supports women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan. Thank you for supporting Bahar Tailoring Workshop — where every stitch tells a story of heritage, strength, and resilience.
