Bano Tailoring Workshop

Afghanistan

My name is Golsoom Mousavi, and I am from the center of Kunduz Province, Afghanistan. I hold a 16th-grade diploma in Islamic Studies and have over 18 years of experience in tailoring. Since 1375 (1996), I have been deeply involved in this field, not only working professionally but also empowering others through free training for over 400 students as part of my community capacity-building efforts. I established Bano Tailoring Workshop to turn my passion into a platform for growth and opportunity. Our workshop is located in District 1, Sayed Abad Street, Lane 8, Kunduz City, and we currently have a team of 25 dedicated women. Many of them support their households through this work, and together we produce high-quality, handmade garments that celebrate Afghan culture. Our products include Afghani scarves (Gand), bead embroidery (Mora Dozi), leather embroidery (Charma Dozi), bridal wear, party dresses, and a variety of traditional and modern clothing. The goal of my business is not only to generate income but to develop the mindset and confidence of women, so they can become self-reliant and empowered in society. I first discovered my talent through a private institute, and with natural ability, commitment, and family encouragement, I turned it into a lifelong pursuit. Today, we serve both local customers and indirect buyers abroad, fulfilling custom orders and proudly representing Afghan handmade fashion on a broader stage. By joining Aseel, I hope to introduce our work to a global audience that values heritage, craftsmanship, and women-led entrepreneurship. Thank you for supporting Bano Tailoring Workshop — where every thread carries tradition, skill, and hope for a stronger future.
