My name is Bibi Shirin Mohammadi, and I am from Andarab District in Baghlan Province. I completed my education up to grade 12 and have over twenty-five years of experience in traditional Afghan handicrafts. I began my business officially in 1391 (2012), though I had been working even before that due to our family’s difficult financial situation. With strong determination and the will to support my family, I turned my skills into a small business that has grown over time. Today, I lead Banowan Andarab Tailoring, a production company focused on creating job opportunities for women. Our shop is located opposite Kocha Shahidi, former Kabul Terminal, and we currently work with a team of eight staff members, including a manager and a marketing assistant. Our products include Afghani scarves (Gand), leather embroidery, traditional needlework, leather handbags, beaded bags, and custom shoes. Each piece is handmade with care and rooted in the cultural identity of our region. I first learned these skills from my mother, and later deepened my knowledge through helpful seminars supported by the Aga Khan Foundation. We receive orders through direct contracts with shopkeepers in the city and nearby districts, as well as from Afghan and international clients who place custom orders for their families. The purpose behind my work has always been to empower women and create stable sources of income, while continuing to grow personally and professionally. By joining Aseel, I now have the opportunity to share our work with a global community that values handmade art and supports Afghan women. Thank you for supporting Banowan Andarab Tailoring — where every stitch carries tradition, strength, and purpose.
