My name is Tamanna Rajabzada, and I am from Central Baghlan District, located in Baghlan Province. I have more than eleven years of experience in tailoring and traditional handicrafts. In the year 2020, I officially started my business with very limited capital. Despite the challenges, I was determined to build something meaningful — not only for myself but also for other women in my community. Today, I proudly lead Somaya Tailoring, a growing brand committed to preserving local skills and supporting women’s economic empowerment. Our shop is based in Pashtunistan Square, next to Masjid Rais Gul Jan, where I work alongside a team of seven employees, including two male staff members who assist with marketing. In addition to our core team, I am currently training sixty-five students across two training centers — thirty in one location, and thirty-five in the other. Many of the women we work with are migrants or orphans who face difficult life circumstances. Through this business, they are now gaining valuable skills and earning income to support themselves and their families. The creation of Somaya Tailoring was inspired by my lifelong love for the art of tailoring, which began in childhood. With dedication and continuous learning, I was able to turn my passion into a business that now contributes to the local economy and empowers other women to do the same. Our mission is clear: to improve the economic conditions of families, promote individual empowerment, and elevate the standard of living within our community. By sharing our handmade products with the world, we also aim to preserve the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Afghanistan.
