Hammad Carpet – Zohra Mohammadi, a passionate entrepreneur from Gorgam, Asadabad District in Kunar Province, is the force behind Hammad Carpet—a growing brand dedicated to promoting traditional Afghan weaving. Despite completing formal education only up to Grade 3, Zohra has developed strong expertise through practical experience. Her journey into the world of carpet trading began five years ago, supported by Bayan Qaleeno Company, which provided her with hands-on training in the craft. From her shop in central Gorgam, Zohra now leads a team of five workers, offering a wide variety of handcrafted products including Afghan carpets, janamaz (prayer rugs), traditional patterns, and large decorative rugs. Each item is a reflection of Afghanistan’s rich cultural heritage, woven with care and dedication. Zohra’s goal is to establish a recognized brand, increase national income, and uplift her community through local job creation. She understands that while the domestic market for high-value carpets is limited, these handmade treasures have strong potential in international markets. Through her collaboration with Aseel, Hammad Carpet is now reaching customers beyond Afghanistan, sharing the beauty, precision, and tradition of Afghan carpets with the world. Each product from Hammad Carpet is not just a rug—it’s a story of resilience, skill, and cultural pride passed down through generations.
