Istalefi Pottery Shop

Abdul Wakil, 55, is a third-generation Afghan artisan and owner of Istalefi Pottery Shop, established in 1971 in Istalif village near Kabul. He began learning pottery at age 10, inheriting the craft from his father and grandfather. Known for its signature turquoise ceramics, Istalefi Pottery employs eight artisans to create traditional, functional, and aesthetic pieces like bowls, vases, and plates. Though previously limited to sales in Afghanistan and a few international markets, Wakil partnered with Aseel to reach a wider audien.
