Kabul Jamal Stone

-

I’m Marwa Hakak Zada, a jeweler from Kabul. I graduated in Law and Political Science from Kabul University, and I come from a family with a long tradition of jewelry making. In 2014, I decided to start learning jewelry making under the guidance of my uncle, Master Abdul Rasoul Farhad Hakak Zada, who is an internationally recognized expert in gemstone cutting. I also have skills in stone engraving, which I learned from my father, Master Abdul Rahim Hakak, who is a respected professional in the field. With my father’s support, I was able to revive my grandfather’s company, which was originally established in 1963 in Shahr-e-Naw, Kabul, under the name "Jamal." The company, named after my grandfather’s teacher, Master Jamaluddin Hakak, was later renamed "Kabul Jamal Stone." It was managed by my father until 2014 when he opened a branch in the United Arab Emirates. After a year of operation, the branch was moved back to Kabul, and now the honor of carrying this legacy forward is mine. With my skills in engraving and jewelry making, as well as my family’s honored legacy, I have been able to create hundreds of pieces of jewelry from precious and semi-precious stones. Along the way, I’ve not only earned trust and recognition but also created job opportunities for women in my country. Currently, I mentor three apprentices who cut and polish various stones to craft jewelry and decorative items such as tables, vases, chairs, ships, jewelry boxes, and hundreds of other products. All of these items can be viewed and purchased through the Aseel online platform.
