Khanum Khohistani Handicrafts and Tailoring – Bibi Zakia (Kohistani), the founder of Khanum Khohistani Handicrafts and Tailoring, is a passionate entrepreneur from Kapisah, with 13 years of experience in tailoring and handicrafts. After completing Grade 6, Bibi Zakia started her journey in tailoring with a vision to offer high-quality Afghan clothing and create opportunities for herself and others in her community. Founded in 2024, Khanum Khohistani Handicrafts and Tailoring is located in Jamal Agha, First Hissa, Kapisa, where Bibi Zakia now runs a thriving workshop with 12 skilled employees. The workshop specializes in a range of garments, including Afghan-style dresses, Mora-embroidered Yakhans, ceremonial clothing, and custom-made garments, all designed to meet customers’ needs. The motivation behind starting Khanum Khohistani Handicrafts and Tailoring was to provide quality products that would stand out in the market, offer affordable, high-quality clothing, and create stable employment for women in her community. Bibi Zakia's vision is to empower women and uplift the local economy. Her tailoring skills were developed through professional training courses and practical experience, and she now shares this knowledge with her team. The business operates primarily in local markets within Kapisah, including Deh Baba Ali Murad Khwaja Market and Central Kabul. With the support of Aseel, Khanum Khohistani Handicrafts and Tailoring is expanding its reach to global markets, showcasing Afghan-made garments internationally. This collaboration allows Bibi Zakia to share her exquisite creations with a broader audience, providing further opportunities for growth and empowering women in her community. Through Khanum Khohistani Handicrafts and Tailoring, Bibi Zakia continues to celebrate Afghan culture, craftsmanship, and the empowerment of women, with the goal of economic self-sufficiency and creating a brighter future for her family and community.
