Founded in 2019, LAWANG is a social enterprise celebrating Afghan craftsmanship and fashion. As Afghanistan’s official NEST Guild member, we work with over 2,000 artisans worldwide to preserve traditional artistry and empower women through meaningful employment. Inspired by the Pashto word “Lawang” — meaning clove, a symbol of beauty and warmth — our mission is to keep Afghan clothing traditions alive while sharing this rich culture with the world. Through our work, we aim to create sustainable livelihoods, reduce gender gaps, and help women artisans thrive both economically and creatively.
