Najiba Tailors

-

My name is Najiba, and I run Najiba Tailors from my home in Zheray District, Kandahar. With over 10 years of experience in traditional Afghan craftsmanship, I have been creating and selling handmade items based on the needs and preferences of local customers. I don't own a shop or formal business structure — everything I do starts from my home. Alongside two family members, we produce beautiful, handmade Afghan products using our skills, creativity, and the resources we have. I started this work not just as a passion, but as a source of income for my family. Supporting my household and creating a halal livelihood is the core reason behind everything I do. We tailor each piece based on customer demand — offering various traditional Afghan handmade items, rich with cultural meaning and made with care. My work is fueled not by formal education, but by determination and the skills I’ve taught myself over the years. Unfortunately, awareness and access to local markets in Afghanistan are limited. Our sales are small, mainly due to a lack of visibility. But I believe that if women like me are given a chance to connect with global customers, we can empower many more families and create real opportunities for women in underserved communities. That’s where Aseel comes in. Through Aseel, I now have the chance to share my work with people beyond my village — even beyond Afghanistan. It gives me hope that my handmade creations can support my home and open doors for other women too.
