My name is Gul Ghutti Maiwandi, and I’m the founder of Noor Ul Zahara Afghan Clothes and Hijab, based in the historic city of Kandahar, specifically in Ainomina, Street 15, House No. 817. I began this journey over seven years ago, not just as a business idea, but as a personal mission—driven by life’s challenges and a strong desire to serve the people of my country. Although I didn’t receive formal education, I’m literate and learned everything I know about tailoring and handwork from my family and local teachers, improving along the way through passion and practice. Today, our workshop has grown, and we now have a small but dedicated team of around 10 women. Together, we create traditional Afghan clothing, home-style outfits, and beautiful hijabs, all crafted with care and cultural pride. Each piece is designed to meet the needs of our customers while preserving the beauty of Afghan tradition. At Noor Ul Zahara, our only goal is to serve—to support our community by providing well-made, affordable clothing that brings dignity and joy to those who wear it. We believe in service over profit, and that’s what makes our work truly meaningful. Being part of Aseel has helped us share our mission with the world. Through Aseel, our handmade garments and hijabs can now reach Afghan communities near and far, connecting us with customers who value authenticity and want to support women-led businesses.
