My name is Basniya Achakzai, the founder of Pamir Tailors Handicrafts, currently based in District 15 of Kandahar City, though originally from Spin Boldak. My journey into tailoring began about six years ago, born from a place of necessity, resilience, and the hope to build a better life. Back then, I lived in a village and started sewing clothes for my neighbors and community members just to earn a small wage. I didn’t have much, but I had determination. I even hired a tailoring teacher on a salary to help me learn faster. With time, I gained confidence in my skills, and today, I’m proud to lead a team of up to 16 women—trainers and apprentices—who work alongside me. At Pamir Tailors, we currently offer traditional Afghani and modern ceremonial dresses made from home with limited resources. Every dress we create is handcrafted with care, reflecting not just our skill but our desire to serve and uplift others. My dream is not just to build a business, but to create a powerful brand that provides income, dignity, and purpose to hundreds of Afghan women one day. I believe that work brings light to life—and I’d rather struggle building something than depend on others. That’s why I continue this journey with heart and faith, even when it’s hard. Thanks to Aseel, our vision is beginning to expand. Through this platform, we hope to reach more customers, grow our capacity, and turn our humble workshop into a growing business that empowers not just me, but many others in our community. Every stitch we make carries a story of hope—and we’re just getting started.
