Setareh Khorshid Handicrafts

-

My name is Salima Yousufi, daughter of Mohammad Aslam, and I’m the founder of Setareh Khorshid Handicrafts based in Kunduz, Afghanistan. I learned tailoring and embroidery from my dear mother, who passed down not only her skills but her love for the craft. After working for over 12 years, I decided to formally start my own business two years ago in the center of Kunduz, on Sarak-e-Naw. Today, I proudly lead a team of 12 hardworking women. We create a variety of handmade products, including men’s and women’s clothing, gul dozi, mouri dozi, graphy dozi, and other traditional designs. Each item reflects the culture and care that defines our community. Like many women in Afghanistan, selling in local markets is not always easy, and opportunities are limited. That’s why joining Aseel has made such a big difference. Through Aseel, I can share our handmade work with customers far beyond Kunduz — and it gives us hope that our skills and traditions are valued around the world. My goal is to use what we have wisely, to improve, and to always keep our customers happy. Setareh Khorshid is not just a business — it’s a small light that supports women, preserves our heritage, and moves us forward, one stitch at a time.
