Soraya Tailoring – Soraya Azizi, the founder of Soraya Khiyati, is a talented tailor from Asadabad, Kunar Province. With 14 years of education and 4 years of experience, Soraya started her journey in tailoring due to economic challenges faced by her family. Inspired to support her family and provide a better future, she began her tailoring business in 2018. Operating from Hijrat Bar Kaly in Asadabad, Soraya Khiyati has grown into a business that offers a wide variety of high-quality Afghan clothing, including Afghan-style garments, shalwars, Punjabi suits, embroidered umbrellas, leather Afghan clothing, and more. She is committed to not only producing top-tier clothing but also providing an opportunity for others in her community. With a team of three instructors and five apprentices, Soraya not only runs her business but also dedicates time to teaching the next generation of tailors, empowering women and youth with valuable skills. Her motivation behind starting Soraya Khiyati was to help her family and provide for their needs while contributing to her local community by offering quality garments. Currently, Soraya's sales reach around 20,000 to 22,000 AFN per month, which helps cover her family’s living expenses and maintain her business operations. Her mission is to help improve the local economy, train more women and men in tailoring, and spread Afghan heritage through high-quality clothing. With the support of Aseel, Soraya Khiyati hopes to expand her business, bring Afghan-made clothing to international markets, and continue to create more job opportunities for her community, empowering others with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. Through Soraya Khiyati, Soraya Azizi is stitching more than just clothes—she’s creating a path to a better future for her family, her apprentices, and her community, one garment at a time.
