Zalanda Women Tailors

-

My name is Fazila Sahil, and I’m the proud founder of Zalanda Women Tailors, based in Kandahar. I started this journey in 2015, with a simple goal: to grow, to create, and to build a space where women could learn, work, and shine. I run my tailoring business from Ainomina, Street 7, where I work alongside five talented women and guide over 20 students who are learning this beautiful craft. My tailoring skills were learned during my time in Iran, and since then, I’ve been determined to use them not only to support myself but also to empower other women in my community. Zalanda Women Tailors creates a wide range of clothing—from traditional Afghani and Punjabi dresses, to maxi gowns, eventwear, children’s clothing, and hijabs. We also specialize in accessories like button covers and embellishment work. Each item we make carries a piece of our culture, stitched with care and pride. For me, this business is more than just tailoring—it’s about building trust, offering quality, and always giving customers something special, often with a personal discount or a smile. My brand, “Zalanda,” stands for brightness, for women rising, and for the belief that even small steps can lead to big change. Being part of Aseel has taken our work to a global stage. Through Aseel, we’re able to tell our story, reach international customers, and inspire others who believe in supporting artisans and women-led businesses in Afghanistan.
