About Campaign

This is a campaign in partnership with Aseel App to raise $5,000 which will provide Emergency Food Packages to women-led households in Afghanistan. Every dollar raised will go directly to the families in need. Each package is the equivalent of $88 USD, so $5,000 can help 57 families. Since Afghanistan fell to the Taliban, women have lost many of their rights and cannot work to provide for their families. In a country of many widows, and after 20 years of women going to universities, becoming professionals in various capacities, and providing for their families, this loss of rights means that many families have no source of income at all. According to Human Rights Watch, “After the Taliban takeover of the country in August, the protracted Afghanistan conflict abruptly gave way to an accelerating human rights and humanitarian crisis. The Taliban immediately rolled back women’s rights advances and media freedom—among the foremost achievements of the post-2001 reconstruction effort. Most secondary schools for girls were closed, and women were prohibited from working in most government jobs and many other areas...In the weeks after the Taliban takeover, Taliban authorities announced a steady stream of policies and regulations rolling back women’s and girls’ rights. These included measures severely curtailing access to employment and education and restricting the right to peaceful assembly. The Taliban also searched out high-profile women and denied them freedom of movement outside their homes.” link to article here I have observed and supported the incredible grassroots work of Aseel App over the last two years. I am grateful to be partnering with this team in this effort. Your donations and support are deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for joining us and for helping us spread the word. These funds will be raised in the memory of my late mother, Setara Begum Delawari.
